New partnership with Worcester Medical Center allows BIDMC DM Fellows to oversee Emergency Preparedness for the entire hospital

DisasterFellowship News

The BIDMC Fellowship in Disaster Medicine is pleased to announce a new partnership with Worcester Medical Center that will allow our fellows to help direct Emergency Management for the entire medical center. With senior fellow Dr. Maryam Arshi serving as lead, the fellows will have the opportunity to gain experience in real-world hospital emergency management and what it is like to run emergency preparedness for a large medical center. With nearly 300 beds and over 65,000 Emergency Room visits per year, Worcester Medical Center is a major academic tertiary care hospital in the second largest city in Massachusetts.

Dr. Ciottone said: “The opportunity our fellows now have to essentially run the Emergency Preparedness for a large medical center is invaluable, and not something that can be learned through lectures or reading. It is hands-on, real-world training opportunities like this that make the BIDMC Fellowship in Disaster Medicine such an outstanding training program!”
