Climate Change and Health

Program Overview

Climate change is contributing to escalating risk from a variety of hazards, including cyclones, floods, heat waves, and wildfires. This advanced concentration is offered in collaboration with the BIDMC Fellowship in Climate Change and Human Health and offers disaster medicine fellows the opportunity to focus on the causes, impacts and mediators of climate-related health harms, with a focus on disaster. Faculty leading this program are actively involved in the development of climate educational curriculum and conduct research on the health and healthcare impacts of climate change, as well as solutions to address these. Fellows will have the opportunity to receive focused didactics training while they develop both research and communications skills and collaborate with a broad network of disaster medicine and public health professionals working at the intersection of climate change and disaster medicine.
