Class of 2024 Full-Scale Exercise

This is an annual graduation requirement for the BIDMC Fellowship in Disaster Medicine. Fellows work together as a class over the year to develop and implement a full-scale exercise that engages local and state responders. It involves over 9 months of planning, a table-top drill, and the coordination of many response agencies, all culminating in the full-scale exercise.

This year’s exercise was an active shooter/school shooting scenario that involved over 300 responders and more than 30 state emergency management, law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical response agencies, including two LifeFlight helicopters. The participants extricated and provided care to 70 victims played by volunteer-actors. It was a resounding success and really highlights the quality and commitment to excellence of our fellows, as well as the depth of experience and expertise of our faculty!

We could not be more proud of our Disaster Medicine Fellows!
